A Month of Activities Culminating in the 40th Gay Pride Pride

While Chicago has long established itself as one of the most LGBT-friendly cities in the country, it's still nice to get all dressed up and celebrate pride every June. Find some of the city's top pride events here.

1. Gay Day at Six Flags - Date TBD

From 10am to 9pm, it's gay day at Great America. Sponsored by Gay Chicago Magazine.

2. Halsted Tastes Better (Taste of Halsted) - Date TBD

Sample North Halsted's restaurant scene.

3. 7th Annual Salute to GLBT Veterans - Date TBD

Honor all those who have served even under less than welcoming conditions at Daley Plaza.

4. Annual Open Mic at Women & Children First - Date TBD

A pride weekend tradition at Andersonville's favorite independent bookstore.

5. Chicago Gay Mens' Chorus - Dates TBD

The GCMC celebrates Pride month with performances at the Lake View Presbyterian Church.

6. National HIV Testing Day Program - Date TBD

The Center on Halsted participates in this important awareness and health event from 8am to noon. Admission is free, but reservations are required.

7. BackLot Bash - Dates TBD

An Andersonville pride celebration and festival because pride is not just for boys you know.

8. Pride Fest - Saturday, June 27

Because before you have a parade, you have to have a fest.

9. Proud to Run - Date TBD

5K and 10K run plus a 2 mile "fun walk" to celebrate Pride Weekend.

10. Pride Parade - Sunday, June 28

Chicago's most exuberant neighborhood parade celebrates 40 in 2009, but, really, she doesn't look a day over 29. Don't you think?
